Bankers since 1926
Banca March was founded in Palma de Mallorca in 1926. After nearly a century of business, it is the only Spanish bank to be completely family-owned. Banca March has branches in the Canary Islands, Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia, Alicante, Malaga, Cadiz and London.
Banca March obtained the highest solvency ratio among the 91 European banking institutions analysed in the stress test carried out by the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) in conjunction with the national central banks and the European Central Bank (ECB) in June 2010. Our current TIER I is 20.3%. The bank maintained an excellent credit rating (Moody’s long term A2 and short term P1 – the highest rating).
This strength has been decisive in Banca March’s specialisation in Wealth Management, Private Banking and Corporate Banking (particularly family-owned businesses and entrepreneurial families). The good results obtained in the creation of value and the protection of its clients’ assets has favoured strong growth in these areas.
Banca March owns, through the group’s majority shareholders Corporación Financiera Alba, significant stakes in some of Europe’s most important companies in the fields of construction and services, energy, information technology, defence and health. It is major shareholder in ACS and Acerinox, and a main shareholder in companies such as Prosegur and Indra.
